I have had this little dream of starting this blog for a while now, but was super nervous to take the plunge. I didn’t know if my recipes could compete with other blogs or that I would have enough recipes to keep it going for the long haul so I waited and waited trying to come up with more content, and deciding what I really wanted to do. So, I finally did it and when I told my family and friends everyone was super supportive. My husband has helped me start and design my website he is my HTGIC (head tech guy in charge), along with being my official taste tester, the person I bounce my ideas off of, and all around the best husband! My dad, (aka Big D) has sent me multiple ideas for recipes and things I can do for my blog as well as helping fix the many things wrong with my LinkedIn. Within the first couple of days of my website going live he sent me this recipe with pictures and step by step instructions for how he made it. His pizza has always been one of my favorite home meals. I always request that he make it when ever we visit them or when they visit us but, this time he has turned up the pizza making and made this amazing deep dish Chicago style pizza which I can’t wait for him to make for me when they come visit in a few weeks! This is definetly not a Whole 30 recipe or paleo but life is all about balance so it’s ok to indulge every once in a while, especially if pizza is part of your food freedom.

There are ways that you can make this recipe a little bit healthier but, he used 3 packages of the Betty Crocker pizza dough mix (19.8oz total) but if you are gluten free Bob’s Redmill has a great gluten free pizza crust. Make sure to spray the bottom of the deep dish pan, he used this one Chicago Metallic Non-Stick Deep Dish Pizza Pan

Next you want to layer the bottom of the crust with mozzarella slices.
Then add whatever meat you would like…pepperoni, sausage, ham. The options are endless!
Next add 30 ounces of pizza sauce on top. I like Rao’s pizza sauce, their products have super clean ingredients and taste really great.

Sprinkle the top with Parmesan cheese.

Finally, bake 425 for 20-25 minutes and then let sit for 5 minutes before cutting and enjoy!

Ingredients:

~19.8oz of pizza crust ( he used 3 packages of Betty Crocker’s pizza dough mix, but can also make it gluten free with Bob’s red mill crust)
~ 1 package of Mozzarella slices
~ meat of your choice he used pepperoni but you can choose your favorite pizza topping.
~30 oz of pizza sauce (Rao’s is my favorite)
~ 1/3 cup of shredded parmesan

Hope everyone enjoys Big D’s pizza as much as I do!
